Clubhouse in Winter

The Saratoga Lake Sailing Club (SLSC) was founded in 1957 and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1960. The purpose of the club is to promote and develop interest in sailing and sailboat racing and to cooperate with and aid individuals and groups interested in sailing.

The club is comprised of 175 memberships which can be either family or individual. Any person with an interest in sailing may apply for membership to the club.

There are 4 levels of full membership in the club:

Membership ClassQualificationDues
Regularage 30 to 59$600
Young Adultage 21 to 29$450
Seniorage 60 and over$450
Student a full-time student up to age 25 (minors must have parental consent) $200

Sailboat racing is one of the prime activities of the club and has been an important and enjoyable tradition. Races are held every Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening with special regattas held throughout the summer. See our fleets page for information on our racing fleets. Up through July 15th, owners of fleet boats are given preference on an 60% - 40% basis. In other words, for every 10 membership openings, 6 are reserved for owners of fleet boats and 4 are open to others.

The club also has an active social calendar throughout the year. This typically includes such events as:

  • Commodore's Ball Dinner/Dance
  • Champagne Brunch on Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July BBQ
  • Labor Day Lobster Boil

In addition to these club sponsored events, each of the racing fleets conducts social events, often in conjunction with fleet sponsored regattas.

The waterfront offers a variety of boat storage options. A large grass section is used for storing boats on trailers which are dry sailed. An electric hoist makes launching both quick and convenient. Storage racks are used for board boats such as Lasers, Sunfish and Windsurfers. Boats too large to be dry sailed are moored in designated areas. Some members maintain in the water storage racks. A picnic area with tables, charcoal grills, and playground equipment is also part of the waterfront.

SLSC has several programs to teach sailing. The Junior Sailing Program is aimed at providing training to young people from members' families. Formal Adult lessons for members are also available as well as informal lessons and pointers from experienced sailors in the club.

The Club does not have paid professional staff and depends on the active participation of the members to maintain the club facilities. In the Spring, members prepare the club for the season's activities by cleaning up the clubhouse and grounds and placing the floating docks in position. In the fall, members button down the club for the winter. During the season, volunteers may be requested for special projects to maintain or improve the club's facilities. Participation in these activities is a requirement of membership. This assures that dues and fees are maintained at a reasonable level and makes the club a great family recreational investment.

To apply for membership, print a copy of our application and mail that to our Membership Chair, whose address is listed on the form.

Our current Membership Chair is Allan Miller.
